Free agency is an idea that over time has changed professional sports as we know. Whereas in the past, professional athletes were subjected to the desires of owners and league officials in regards to their careers, once free agency came onto the scene, players gained the power to make their own professional decisions as long as they fulfilled their contractural obligations.

I believe that there will always be enough controversial topics to discuss in the sports world but it’s important to think back to those athletes, coaches and team staff members who really did make a positive difference in our lives.
